God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him won’t perish but will have eternal life.

John 3:16, (CEB)

We are those people

God’s gifts come to particular people, in particular places, at particular times. And right here, right now: we are those people. Because we are made in God’s image, we can reflect God’s steadfast love, abundance, and mercy. Together, we can respond with generosity, love, and service on behalf of our neighbors.

Your estimate of giving is an important part of how we respond to God’s generosity together. An estimate of giving isn’t a contract; it’s a statement of faith. It’s your opportunity to prayerfully consider how you will offer your blessings back to God and to the church in the coming year. Just as our gifts are an expression of gratitude and trust, your estimate helps the church plan wisely and be good stewards of all that we share.

Determine what percentage of your income you are currently giving to God and consider taking a step up this year.  So if you now give 3% of your income, consider increasing your gift to 4%.  Our prayer is that everyone will grow in their generosity and experience the joy and blessings that will overflow from that generosity.

Many of us find it helpful to give the same way we pray—regularly and intentionally. After you return your Estimate of Giving, you can set up automated donations through the church’s secure Give Online portal. It’s simple, dependable, and helps Sterling UMC plan ministry well throughout the year.

Your place at Sterling UMC has never depended on what you can give—only that you are part of this community of faith. We understand that circumstances can change, and that giving looks different for everyone. You can always adjust your commitment as your circumstances change.
