Where else would we go?

Where else would we go?
Jesus walks on water. - John 6:16-21

After many of the followers walk away, Jesus turns to the remaining disciples and asks them a simple but profound question: “Do you also wish to go away?”

It is a moment of decision.

The miracles have happened. The teaching has been given. Now the disciples must decide what they will do with what they have seen and heard.

Peter answers with words that have echoed through the centuries: “Lord, to whom can we go? You have the words of eternal life.”

Peter does not claim to understand everything Jesus has said. He does not pretend that the road ahead will be easy. But he recognizes something essential: the life Jesus offers is unlike anything else in the world.

The storms will still come. Fear will still appear. Faith will sometimes feel difficult and uncertain.

But Christ is still the one who walks toward us in the darkness. Christ is still the one who speaks peace into our fear. Christ is still the one who leads us toward life.

So the question Jesus asked the disciples continues to echo into our lives today.

Will we keep walking with him?

Even when the journey becomes challenging.

Even when the waves are rough.

Even when we do not fully understand where the path will lead.

Faith is not simply about believing the miracle happened. It is about trusting the one who performed it.  And like Peter, we may find ourselves saying the same words and asking:

“Lord, where else would we go?”

Faithful God, when I face moments of doubt or uncertainty, remind me why I began this journey with you. Give me the courage to keep following, trusting that you lead me toward life. Amen.
