Sterling Church family,

We would like to share some information with you about the scheduled arrangements for Firefighter Trevor Brown, as well as offer some ways that you are able to support the injured firefighters as they work to recover from their injuries.

Firefighter Brown’s services will be held at 11 AM on Monday, March 4th at Cornerstone Chapel in Leesburg, VA (650 Battlefield Parkway SE, Leesburg, VA 20175).

Though Sterling UMC will not be taking direct giving, Loudoun County Fire and Rescue has set up several pathways for us to offer our support to our first responders and their families.

  • Monetary donations may be made to The Loudoun First Responders Foundation, which provides immediate financial support to active first responders. To designate your donation specifically to the family of Firefighter Trevor Brown, please add “Brown Family” in memo line. If not specified, your donations will benefit injured firefighters. You can donate online at LoudounFRF.org.
  • If you’re interested in donating goods or services, please email. Their team will reach out to you directly to coordinate.
  • To send condolences to the family of firefighter Brown and encouragement to the injured first responders, please email. These messages will be shared with the first responders and families.
Jim Talbert has also been in contact with the D.C. Firefighters Burn Foundation.  The foundation is currently supporting two of the injured firefighters that are at the Washington Hospital Center MEDSTAR Burn Unit.  The Foundation will support both of these members until they are discharged from the hospital.  The foundation is currently providing both wives with a hotel room, daily parking fees, lunch and dinner.  Donations can be made on their website, and can be earmarked to support these families.Another worthy charity is the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.  You may be familiar with their work and mission from our observance of Bells Across America Sunday.  Learn more and donate on their website.

There are so many in our community that are facing such hardship and heartache as a result of the tragic events of last Friday.  Let us continue to do the work set in front of us to love, serve and heal.  Please continue to keep Firefighter Brown’s family, friends and colleagues in your thoughts and prayers, as well as the first responders who sustained injuries as they continue to recover at home and in area hospitals.

We will continue to pass on information as it comes to us!
