Missions Update – Rummage Sale Smashes Records!

Rummage Sale Update

Thank you all for your tremendous support of our missions rummage sale fundraiser.  As we slowly get the building back to normal today, we are pleased to announce that the sale smashed all previous records, bringing in over $17,000!!  Thank you to all who donated items, and to the many, many people who donated of their time to make the sale a success (over 1,000 hours in all!).  We are now able to fully fund our mission trips and local mission efforts for the year.  Praise the Lord!

With over 100 participants traveling to 7 locations in the United States, Jamaica and the Czech Republic, the financing can be daunting.  Every year, the Lord has provided for us.  We are delighted that we will be able to serve God’s people in Sterling and in many other places through His provision.

Jamaica Team Update

Our team arrived in Jamaica on Saturday afternoon, had time to make a supply run at the local market, and began preparing for the work ahead.  On Sunday the team led the worship service at Falmouth Methodist Church with our Jamaican brothers and sisters in Christ.  Members of the mission team served as liturgists and helpers, and Randy preached during the 2 1/2 hour-long service in the historic old church.

It was Harvest Sunday at the church and the church children and adults had a procession, bringing in all of the fruits and produce to lay on the altar as an offering to God.  The produce was to be sold to add money to an outreach budget.

Today the team is headed to Holland High School to do an assembly with 800 students.  They will next head to Granville Girls home to spend the rest of the morning with 80 girls who are residents of this home for troubled girls.

After lunch the team will head to Hope Hospice to minister to the patients there.  Tonight is the first of three nights doing the Children’s Crusade at the Methodist Churches in the Falmouth area.

Please continue to pray for the team, and all those they are blessed to share their time with.

Bennettsville, South Carolina Mission Team

Our Bennettsville, South Carolina mission team is making preparations for their departure this coming Sunday.  Thank you, prayer partners for bringing your notes of encouragement to the church office by this Friday if possible.  Thank you also to all who picked up a tag off the giving tree and are purchasing supplies.  A few tags are still available on the tree in the narthex.

Local Missions

Tonight Deshong’s Giftback is beginning its first harvest of the year- about 30-40 squash, that will be given to hungry families in our community.   Thank you for all who are supporting DeShong’s as well as our Grace Ministry and other local mission efforts!  The harvest is plentiful!
